Although Jean Paul Gaultier did not receive formal training as a designer, he has sent his sketches to well-known stylists from an early age. In 1970 he was hired as an assistant by Pierre Cardin, who was impressed by his talent. In 1976 Gaultier released his first collection under his own name. He not only made clothes but also perfume for women and men. His men's fragrance "Le Male" was launched in 1995 and is one of the best-selling men's fragrances in Europe.
